Poppe + Potthoff Präzisionsstahlrohre demonstrates how self-learning machines help increase flexibility and productivity during the "it's OWL Transfer Days”

Tradition and innovation are no opposites at Poppe + Potthoff. Since 1928, steel tubes have been drawn here to the highest precision – tailor-made to meet the exact requirements of the customers. Thereby the historically grown machine park and the most modern measuring and control technology work hand in hand.

The intelligently networked production is continuously being further developed in transfer projects as part of the "it's OWL" cluster. Together with the Fraunhofer IEM, the P+P employees have now developed a self-optimizing straightening machine that simplifies the conventionally manual process and automatically ensures quality.

"The straightening of the steel tubes is the last step in which we can decisively influence the product,” explains Dr. Bengt-Henning Maas, CEO of the tubing factory. "By introducing a measurement system for continuous quality control and a setup wizard, we have been able to increase productivity significantly.

To especially encourage small and medium-sized companies to take advantage of the opportunities offered by Industry 4.0, companies such as Poppe + Potthoff are passing on their experiences with the digitization of manufacturing. A total of 98 projects will be presented at the "it's OWL Transfer Days 2017".

The "it's OWL Transfer Days" will take place on October 10 and 11, 2017 at the Centrum Industrial IT in Lemgo. The visit is free of charge after registration. Here you will find further information and the booking form.
